Meet Astrid! My daughter who was born with a virus I contracted during my pregnancy (called Cytomegalovirus) and passed to her in the womb which caused her to be born with severe hearing loss and balance issues. In March 2024 she underwent surgery for Cochlear Implants. This does not fix her hearing loss but is an aid to help her communicate better in the hearing world. We've met MANY obstacles over the years including self teaching British Sign Language to ourselves as it is not free to learn for families who require it!

We'd love to be able to help other families in our situation gain access to this much needed help and therefore will be using this collection to fundraise for Deaf and CMV charities across the year.
